JC admitted it was a terrible throw. he looked pretty awful still. we might could duplicate last season's record with him at QB and that's me giving him some benefit of the doubt. i think it was his last start for us, and probably for anyone. hope i'm wrong but i think he's terrible.

Cam looked very good to me other than accuracy issues but even then it was better than i expected. still, he looks strong and decisive in the pocket. he played within the scope of the offense and didn't do stupid stuff. and, last night they didn't show off the other elements he brings to the position ... other than the block on the reverse. that is gonna cause some coordinators to have to rethink a bit on how to defend it. i think he can help us win 10 games this year. if he can improve his accuracy quickly, we can go to the playoffs. can he improve quickly on what we saw last night? I think so. right now his head is spinning. once he calms down, i think he'll get better. i don't know if he'll ever be the most accurate guy but the total package of what he brings i do think he's gonna be very good.

i know Collin ... an average fan's take.

anyways, unlike last year, i'm looking forward to the next game.

Based on what? On the touchdown throw he consciously looked off the safety before coming back to Olsen. That's a pro move that I've never seen Newton do. Clausen also went through his progressions and generally made the correct reads.

8 for 19? Consistently throwing off his back foot? Rarely coming off his first option to even attempt reading the defense? Honestly, help me understand because I have absolutely no idea what you could possibly think caused him to look "very good."

    Jesus Christ.

I liked what I saw in terms of our run defense early. We knew coming in LB was a deep position and it showed last night. Senn had a good game and will prolly make the team because he's the best of the bunch at ST's. Gaither looked decent. Like Mags said Id rather him in the middle. Would have him in the middle and Connor outside where I think he can still make plays.

The only DT that really stood out to me was Irvin. Which is pretty surprising to say. He looked quick and strong. Neblett had some nice plays as well.

DE nobody really stood out. Norwood actually looked the part, didn't realize he was quite that big. Hopefully Johnson returning will make a big difference.

I actually really liked what I saw out of Clausen, pick aside. Generally made good decisions. He was pressured quite a bit. Don't want to put all the blame of the sacks on him. I liked that he is looking down the field. I think one of the more impressive plays was the one that got called back on the scramble and connection with Lafell on the sideline.
Newton was about what I expected. Nice arm. Throws off the back foot too much which destroys his accuracy.

RB's. We really could have stood to let DW walk. I'm not gonna get into all that but Stewart looks like he'll have a nice year, and Sutton needs to play more. That dude is a legit RB.

WR is gonna be interesting. Lafell ran some nice routes. Nobody else really stood out. Armanti would have had a nice catch but ended getting it stripped on a pretty good defensive play. Clowney had a drop or two. If he can stop that he'll be a nice reserve.

Promising start but still lots of work to do

Nice thoughts, Jaz. I'm going to have to keep an eye out for Irvin on the replay.
