That is what irritates me about you. You express your opinion as if it is fact then berate anyone disagrees like they just said the sky was red.

You have no way to know what other teams were willing to offer for him. Teams do not always go public with stuff like that. If I had a decent set of DEs on my team but wanted to upgrade to CJ I would certainly not go public until I signed CJ. No need to piss off the guy you have on the roster and will now be keeping.

it's not all paid at once. 60 + 13.5 > 72. But you knew that, being intellectually honest.

    Because:
    A) I'm correct 98% of the time.
    B) You're Thelt.

God damn it, Thelt. How many times do I have to say that Charles Johnson himself said that no one came close to the Panthers' offer before that fact finally sinks into your brain? Unless you're calling CJ a liar, then please shut the fuck up.

Richardson and Hurney wanted to reward their own drafted players. Is that really a crime?

crime? probably not unless you decided well beforehand that there was going to be an issue with anything done. They definitely paid a premium, and not unlike most free agent periods, if a team locked up two of the top 5 players in the session to quick deals the money would come up to something similar. I'd have loved to get hometown discounts but knew that wasn't likely. That ship sailed when we couldn't lock these guys down a year ago.

CJ might've been shocked. Rosenhaus likely wasn't. Was the 2% to cover the false $76 million number?

This sums it up right here. The average (or sub-average) Carolina fan knows and likes current players on the roster. 2-14 or 14-2, last years record is irrelevant. It gives Joe Blow a warm and fuzzy moment when "a local guy" gets the big money to stay with the "hometown" team. The business of the NFL demands fan interest and butts in the seat. Resigning and extending guys on last years roster along with the drafting of a QB in the #1 slot and hiring a new coaching staff, were well executed. Hurney is doing the job he was hired by Richardson to do. The fact that the franchise is run this way has more to do with the relative ignorance of the fan base than the incompetence of the GM.

Nice multi-page and multi-quoted pissing match though. Glad I stopped back in...

yo, retards! did it ever cross any of your small, feeble minds that the Panthers had to pay a fuckload more than anyone else just to get Johnson to return to that shitty fucking team? if any of you cocksuckers had one ounce of intellectual honesty to you, you'd admit that. fuckers. Johnson would have gone to the Bills for five million less. The Bills!
