He got $76 million, I expected $60 mil, and Josh Wilson got $13.5 mil.

he received $72 million/12 per year. $2 mil.
Fair enough on the $13.5, I believed $15 was reported. So, 2 mil into 4.5. It's still an impressive stretch.

We have no way to know that CJ would not have gotten the same money somewhere else. We know Atlanta would not have given it to him but they are not the only team that might have had an interest. He was the top DE in free agency and typically those type guys get paid well.

I doubt he'd have gotten what we paid him.

And I wish Hurney had said 10 mil per.

As I said to the first time you posted this, why do you think some team was going to offer a lot of money a week later? If someone is going to make a big offer, they get involved right away. That's what Philadelphia did with Asomugha, they just kept it quiet and waited for the price to come down.

We signed him pretty quickly. Maybe some other team had made him an offer and he came back to us to match it. None of us know for sure what went on. Your assumption that we could have kept him for a lot less is possible but not a known fact.

Yes, it is. Jesus Christ, could you just not be Thelt in one thread, please? It's fucking exasperating. Charles Johnson and his agent were in contact with teams before Carolina signed him, and none of them offered anything anywhere near what the Panthers did. It's just idiotic to think that some team was willing to go $60+ million eventually, but made no mention of their interest to CJ's agent before he signed. That doesn't happen in the real world. Believe me, I get that you want to pretend that Marty Hurney isn't completely incompetent and that the organization isn't a laughingstock because it bid drastically higher than anyone else was willing to, but stop annoying me by indulging in some fairy tale instead of just facing the facts.
