It would honestly make me happy if you could become a man and just take responsibility for the things you say instead of lying and otherwise inventing bullshit excuses to not admit things you'd prefer to ignore. I've always said that you're a smart and knowledgeable guy, but you drive me bat-fucking-insane because you can't just be honest.

It would make me happy for you to stop dancing around it and answer the question.

Barnwell of Grantland.com had a decent line about Hurney's moves.
This one was also funny, and true, on Johnson's contract.
Johnson's contract, while we overpaid, I mind less than most of our other moves. We overshot the market for our guy, who we think has his best days ahead of him. OK. But egads. I was willing to let Deagelo walk given what we had and invest that money in a corner. I don't see the wisdom in that amount of guarnteed money to a late 20s runningback in today's NFL. I was shocked that we brought back TD, much less extended him 5 years. And Mare was just bizzare in my mind. Who were we bidding against?

maybe they are shelling out these big deals to boost morale and show everyone the culture has changed? Make a very talented team not play like a 2-14 team.

Who would you rather have, Peyton Manning for $90 million or Jake Delhomme for the league minimum?

Hurney thinks he has the core from a 12-4 team (minus Peppers, but now they think CJ fills that void) and terrible QB play has been the the #1 problem. They're expecting Cam to get us back to that level.

I don't agree with the plan at all, but it's a plan nonetheless.

I'm all about team play and not a bunch of individual blame. But you could argue coach and QB are the key pieces. I don't see the pieces being brought back, aside from Clausen out of necessity, being 'the cause'.

Even with total Shit qb play and coaching, most teams win more than 2 games just on some of their "core" making big plays that change the game. ints, kick returns, forced fumbles, something. This team didn't. But hey, they're locked up now! Yippee!

Any GM wants to believe he made good picks. The mantra of "sign your guys" has been taken up league wide, which is a good mantra since it usually is cheaper and requires less re-training. Not necessarily cheaper for us, but it should be.

08 may be an issue. We got decent QB play, Smitty was great, the run game was great, defense was top 10. Lot of the same players.

a lot of these would've been cheaper, under almost any other circumstances, even just having the three day window to talk without other teams sending shit to you. I think part of it was personal - part of it was making good on promises. They got done what they wanted to get done, I have no concerns of that. Hopefully it pays off.
