Question for the experts. Coach mentioned at some point he plans to have multiple formations that include both DW and JS. If we were to just look at maximizing getting talent on the field how flexible is the below formation and what defense would you run against it?

If they meant at the same time, it'd either include motion or receiving. They won't be using one to block fire the other.
Plus i'd expect a lot of 2TE personnel, even if one splits a lot.

If you start in this formation and motion out you give yourself a lot of options. I put Cam back only because that is where is is most experienced. I'm just curious if this calls for 4-3 personnel or assume the motion and go nickle.

I think they are better rotating DW and Stewart. That way you have a fresh back all the time and can wear out a defense. Putting them on the field at the same time only works in that it keeps the defense guessing which back will get the hand off. Neither of them are very good receivers. I would expect to see Goodson get some chances to catch the ball as a "third down" back in this offense.

I don't disagree and I wish I could find the article where I read that quote but this is our strongest talent pool. And Goodson is more than fine as a third down back.

What is the basis for DW being declared not good at catching passes out of the backfield?

I am not sure that he could not become good at it but he has not shown much in that area before.

We could run triple option and be deadly...

didn't Carmelo Newsome split out as a receiver some last year at aubrun? he caught a TD against georgia I believe. anyway, the panthers should hike the ball to him and he and Jeff Stewart and Demario Williams should run some kind of three-man weave in the backfield. this would confuse opposing defenses and tire out the linemen chasing after the ball. The receivers should all stay near the line of scrimmage and when no one expects it, Camera Norton should sprint down the field Wilson or Stewart should throw him the ball for an easy score.

    DW has good hands.
will attempt to add more tonight after the ballgame, graphically. but assuming this is essentially base o vs base.D, and it's more about adjustments from there.
