Well for the record, you did drastically change your opinion of Newton since nowhere before we actually took him did you say that "he'd be at least average." You were actually down on him and harped on his accuracy issues repeatedly, and rightly so. I'm just disappointed to see you being such a homer again and instantly rewriting your opinion of a guy just because the Panthers drafted him.

I still have questions about accuracy, the one thing that you can't really just effort away. He's going to have to show that in games, and back up what's come out so far.

I also believe I said he was a top 15 type guy, but not a #1 overall. I can go look it up, but you'll crap on that too.

Speaking of which, you haven't yelled at yourself in a frothing fury that you didn't tell the difference between "didn't drastically change" and "did change", which regardless of your opinion of me doing so, is still something you would take up 60 posts to call people on. OK, sorry, I exaggerate remember? Let's call it ten since it doesn't actually matter what the number is, and then we're arguing over the number too.

Uh ... you're comparing two quotes of your own. I made fun of you when you took my comment about "not a lot of young talent" and you tried to turn that into "no talent on the roster." The latter to have no resemblance to each other, while in the former you're just trying to make excuses for how much you've changed on Newton. I always use your actual quotes. You don't do the same with me because if you're not exaggerating and misrepresenting what I say then you can't actually argue at all.

The reality is that you have changed your opinion on Newton, just like in a month you went from saying that Andrew Luck was "he's a fine prospect" to then saying he was "the best prospect at qb in a decade." You change your opinions so frequently and drastically because you don't think rationally, you react emotionally. If a guy signs with the Panthers, he's suddenly a lot better than he used to be in your eyes because you feel some sort of obligation as a fan to support the team's decisions. You've always been that way.

yes, it changed. It's not like I suddenly said "yay! I can't believe we got the player I really wanted!", but sure, he's worked hard and he's done the right things. I don't know why it's "more rational" to have a static, completely unchanged opinion compared to "changed a little", but let's argue useless fucking semantics more, that will be interesting and useful.
I still wouldn't have picked him, and I'm still worried about his accuracy, sure. But he's helped what I think of him, not that it would change what this is, which is you griping at me. Which is why it's not useful to spend days retorting what comes down to your issues.

Yes, clearly you changing your opinion about players over the course of a single month is about my "issues."
