What do you guys think the depth chart will look like? I am thinking something like this:

    1. DJ / Walker
    2. Henderson / Carroll
    3. Maggette / Cunningham
    4. Diaw / Thomas / DJ White
    5. Brown / Bismack / Diop

That assumes they retain Brown. If they do not keep him I am not sure what they will do at the 5. I doubt Bismack can really play the 5 at the NBA level but I put him there because of three other guys at the 4.

If that is the final roster I bet Henderson will lead the team in scoring.

It really depends on how much Walker can step in and play. I could also see a lot of the DJ/Walker combo on the floor at the same time with Maggette staying at the 3. Hopefully Henderson can step in and do some nice stuff right away and secure his spot as a starter.

Biyombo might not play center as a rookie, but that's absolutely where he's intended to play eventually.

yeah, that's likely. wouldn't be surprised to see diop ahead of bismack, tho. also i could see them trying to pick up another tall guard.

They probably do see Bismack as a center but he is listed at 6'9" and some sites say that he is not even that tall. I do not recall any successful NBA centers who are less than 6'10" and most are over 7'. I have my doubts about him ever being much of a contributor but I am trying to stay hopeful.

Is Diop even going to be ready to play to start the season? If he is healthy he will probably be ahead of Bismack on the depth chart but I was assuming he would not be 100% til mid season.

DJ and Kemba are too short to play together too much. They will get abused by the better 2 guards in the league who are five or six inches taller than them.

I think Diop's recovery runs into the season so I don't know when he will be back. I heard an interview with Henderson and he is two months away from working out . he had hip surgery, which I keep forgetting about.

Bismack will probably be fine at center eventually. He has the wingspan of a 7+ footer. Ben Wallace is 6-9, Chuck Hayes of the rockets is 6-6 playing center. Even Diaw who plays center is 6-9. And I'm sure there are plenty of 6-10 centers that aren't really that tall. Just like Iverson was not 6 ft tall. Larry Johnson wasn't as tall he claimed.

yeah, not sure about diop. i guess they figured 9-12 months for the recovery. i doubt that's game-shape recovery. wonder what kind of weight he'll put on with a foot injury. in cleveland he was never in great shape, but he seemed to lose his "baby fat" with the mavs. hopefully, that's just his new body and didn't require tons of effort to achieve or he'll be a tub in sept/oct.

I think the good thing with Henderson and Diop is that the lockout is going to affect everybody else's conditioning when/if they play the season. So they're not going to be as far behind everyone else as they would be otherwise.

I hope you are right cause he will be a lot more valuable to the Bobcats if he can play center.

He has a wingspan of 7'7". No question whatsoever that the guy is a center in the NBA, although he could stand to keep adding some muscle. And you're living in the distant past with the comment about most centers being seven footers.
