I agree. Never saw the allure of a 3D television. If I want 3D I'd rather go to the theater. IMHO, in home 3D won't become all that successful until the need for those damn glasses is gone.

I disagree Sony is 2nd tier... are you buying the name? Yes that's some of it, but they are still 1st tier...jmo

I read somewhere (Consumer Reports or some TV mag) that the best 55 inch was a Vizeo. I just didn't have the room for a monster size TV so I went with the best 48" I could find. It was between the Vizeo and Samsung. I couldn't find a Samsung with a 240htz within 300 dollars so I went Vizeo and haven't been disappointed.

2nd tier. Picture quality isn't on par with the Samsungs and LGs. 2nd tier isn't a bad TV. It only means the others are a step above the Sony.

Vizio is good bang for the buck and I'd included them in that 3rd tier grouping. Biggest issue by FAR with Vizio is the fact that they are made at 3 companies world wide and are made standard at any of them. That means buying a Vizio Model 1234 that came from the Tokyo plant is different from the Vizio Model 1234 that came from the German plant. You know how screwed up that can make purchasing decisions, and repair options? If Bob said he god a Vizio 1234 and thought it was great and you went out and bout a model 1234 you could be stuck with a piece of shit.

I just like Sony, I trust it... plus I think the picture is better. I've never had a piece of shit anything that had Sony on it

I've seen where Samsung is rated higher, I dont know why... I've had three different issues with 3 different Samsung tv's... not a Samsung fan. I have friends with Samsung & LG tv's... no problems.

I have a 55 inch Sony and a 61 inch Samsung.... the Samsung has the better picture.

Don't take offense because I said your TV was 2nd tier. As I said that doesn't make it a bad TV. Paired with affordability and its features it can be a "better value" than even a Samsung or LG. However, quality wise Samsung and LG are superior, and that's ok. For what its worth, from a value perspective, I'd be willing to buy another Sony in the future as my "primary" but that doesn't make it the better TV.

    Samsung > Sony

I've had Sony products die on me all the time. 2 Dvd players, 1 home theater, 1 tv, PS3. All of them die about a year after purchase.

I like sony but they make some shit products.
