I am not big on blowing up a successful team. It is hard to assemble a successful team in any pro sport so if you have one do not give it up, try to add to it. The problem with the Bobcats is that they did not have a successful team. They might have still kept Wallace and Jackson if they had not taken on so many bad contracts. They still have Diaw and Diop eating up cap space.

As someone noted earlier, Diaw is an expiring, so (IF THERE IS A SEASON), could fetch a 1st rounder at the trade deadline.

I hope the idea is to fetch as many first rounders in next years (RIDICULOUSLY LOADED) draft as possible.

i agree, but success is objective. the heat made it to the finals and lost. they didn't have a successful season because their goals were very high. the thunder *did* have a successful season even tho they lost in the wcf. the grizz have something to build on after being the 8th seed and taking out the spurs. the spurs were the #1 seed and lost in the 1st round with the best record in the league, clearly a disappointment, but also clearly an indication that they can still be competitive with some adjustments.

for a team that has had ONE winning season ever, i think success must be looked at from the standpoint of getting over 500, not winning championships. get a taste of the post season, establish a culture of winning... if you plateau, then you rebuild.

The way the NBA is structured though getting to .500 or slightly better and being a fringe playoff team makes it very hard to get better. You do not get lottery picks that way. I think that is the way you do it in the NFL but in the NBA it is so important to have a superstar or two on your team that you can't afford to be out of the lottery unless you already have some superstars. The individual is more important than the team in the NBA. It sucks but it is true.

I believe the argument is that they should have spent that money on a legitimate shooting guard, and preferably someone a lot younger.

somebody else could certainly have helped the bulls as much or more than boozer. but that doesn't really translate to boozer not helping the bulls go from a 500 team one year to the best record in the league the next. rose taking it to the next level was major. the coaching change was major. and adding boozer was major.

Yes, yes, no. Look man, you said something too extreme and you need to just back off of it instead of digging yourself deeper. No one on the planet agrees with you that "what put them over the top this year was getting boozer and a new coach." In fact, that was utterly fucking retarded. Clearly Rose's improvement was by far the biggest factor, with Thibodeau next and then Boozer somewhat further down the line. Just let it go.
