Time To Spend

look who's getting paid on the other side... what would you expect in his shoes

 

I think I read the floor for the spending is to be 90% of the the cap, and to be paid out in cash for that year... last year with no cap, teams were well below that

So if they're going to be finding ways to spend money, I would certainly like to keep on RB's, sign an OL, and bring in a CB or two

Would also like to see Smith get a new contract that would keep him here until he retires

 

I have not been the biggest Newton supporter at all and hope like hell the rookie cap is part of the agreement so if Cam is a media flash in the pan we can dump him at a lesser price. I hope we can also sign a vet DT as well.

 

In a salary cap environment it's better to overpay for elite talent and skimp elsewhere, but it will probably be a hard sell to get any premium free agents to come here. The worst thing you can do is to spend a ton of money on average or slightly above average guys.

 

It'll be interesting to see. My first thought is that JR is ready to blow a wad, and that Free Agents will be thrilled to come here, but there's no telling.

 

yeah, I don't buy that players are going to be shy about coming here.

 

I actually liked what the fish wrap mentioned about Jonathan Joseph as a possible replacement for Richard Marshall.

 

he oughta be expensive enough. And he's good, but he's second level good.

 

Thats what I was kind of thinking as well. In this day in age the money is more important than anything else

Being a Northwestern High School Grad in Rock Hill and Gamecock, I bet he'd love to "come home" if the money was similar to the offers

 

This are probably too many unknowns and hypotheticals, but:

Assuming that we re-sign Charles Johnson, extend Beason, and sign all of our rookies under a rookie wage scale, how much of the proposed ~$70 million will we have for bringing new guys in?
