And when did UNC suspend players (some for a few games, some for the entire year)?

In Sept. 2010 (though, to be fair, UNC-CH tried awfully hard to get all their players in that LSU game which tells me they weren't really taking it seriously which probably pissed the NCAA off) but apparently, the NCAA is saying they knew in 2009. We don't know when in 2009 but the NCAA wouldn't bring it up if there was nothing UNC-CH could do but suspend in 2010. Take it up with the NCAA if you don't like it. It's their allegation of covering it up.

And we will see where that leads. But as of now, it's going to be pretty tough to argue that UNC didn't act immediately when they suspended the players as soon as they found out about the wrongdoing.

And that's what you are trying to do.

BTW, the allegation from the NCAA is "The failure to investigate in 2009 and 2010 when provided with information regarding impermissible benefits provided to players."

They knew in 2009 and did not investigate. Assuming Butch was a clean coach (stretch I know), if they had investigated it at the proper time, they would have reported it, handled those players in 2009 or certainly months before the first game in 2010 rather than the week before only after the NCAA shows up on the scene.

Seriously, read the allegation. They FAILED TO INVESTIGATE in 2009. They were presented information in 2009 and failed to investigate it. In fact, they continued to fail to investigate in 2010 as well according to the NCAA. It's pretty clear-cut they covered it up. The NCAA is calling them out for it. Stop trying to cover the dirty program you pull for.

Keep in mind that Austin (and crew) wasn't suspended indefinitely until the Wednesday before the first game. They were allowed to practice with the team up until that point. Now, we don't know who they had info on but given Austin and Little were two of the worst, it's reasonable to think UNC-CH knew something about at least one of them in 2009 and did NOTHING until 3 days before the first game in 2010.

I also did not see anywhere in there that the NCAA accused UNC of covering up anything. I could have missed it though.

LOL - only to a State fan could wanting to wait and see what the investigation turns up be covering something up.

What allegation is that in? I read the entire thing and did not see that. Like I said, I could have missed it though.

I have been clear that if folks knew and did nothing about it they should be fired. That goes for a coach, adviser, AD, or Chancellor.

You read all 42 pages as I haven't seen the actual 42 pages linked anywhere but both the Charlotte Observer (that I linked on page 1 and I corrected the link so it goes to the article) as well as the News & Observer have noted the failure to investigate. CO gave more info than N&O but it's clearly there. Here is the N&O link (8 paragraphs down and it is one of the parts of the Failure to Monitor allegation ie they should have investigated in 2009 when they were given information that players were receiving improper benefits and they did not - wonder why?).

You did but that's probably an intentional miss too. Knowing players are receiving improper benefits and not investigating across two years is covering up.
