It was not fair to the fans to keep Fox as head coach and then do the player purge. Rivera could be a year into the rebuild if he had been hired a year earlier. It was just about saving money for JR, all he seems to care about any more any way.

here's the thing - the cammy cam bandwagon feels a lot better than not being on it - and i'm a fan - and that's how we fucking do. if he flops he flops, and i'll hop the fuck off. better to have ridden and flopped than not ridden at all - or something like that. by def a fanatic is not rational.

I hope he does very well but the odds are against him. A QB who comes from a spread offense and is accustom to making one read then running if the guy is covered is going to struggle in the NFL. No matter how good you are at running you can not win with it in the NFL. If you could teams would put their best running back in the wild cat and run all the time. For him to be a success he is going to have to learn to read NFL level defenses and be able to find the open man on his third or fourth read. Can he do that? Maybe he can but he has not shown that in the past. Basically we have a very good athlete who we hope can learn to play QB at the NFL level. That is mighty thin for #1 overall pick.

You are right though, either you get on his bandwagon or there is not much too hope for as far as success in the next few years.....

It's my low point. Lockout, no lockout, I really don't give a fuck if the Panthers ever play again. I wish I felt like the team had any sense of direction or a plan or anything that made me have even the tiniest bit of confidence in the people running the team. All that said, I'm grateful for the good times the team gave me, I just don't see any reason to think there will be more in the near future.

at the very least, most people have to agree that this is a consistent, long term direction, and that's more than we really seemed to have since the last playoff game, right or wrong.

My opinion is we've hit bottom. Though we may bump it for a while longer I think the low point was last year. I expect the climb out of the hole we dug to take about as long as it took to dig it.

    I see some positives.

We do have all of our draft picks for '12, right?

That's something we haven't seen around here for several years, gives me some optimism.

New staff, I feel good about too, overall. Change was sorely needed, and I think we got a good person in the top job.

The circumstances are tough for him this year though.

Oh, for fucks sake. If you want to debate whether or not you are personally more frustrated now as opposed to how you were in 2001 (I think that is when we went 1-15), then knock yourselves out. But please remember we went from that shitpile to the Super Bowl in 2 years.

Unless you are Detroit (and to be honest, they may not be the exception anymore), the NFL turns on a fucking dime. Very few teams have sustained runs of excellence or of crapellence.

    Sometimes here, sometimes there

reasonable, that's what I was thinkin'

the lockout does hurt us somewhat, though, prolly making it rougher for another (extra) year to get more stuff installed and soforth before we can go from 'worst to first', as it were.

I'd just like to be solid and 'competitive' soon, like within the next year or so. The sooner the better, certainly..but who knows.....

One of the major hurdles, is the fact our division is so tough. No matter how good or compeititve we get 'soon', we still have to get by them/div record, to do 'well' overall. I'tll be a tough process, certainly. But it is what it is....*sigh*, won't miss that though...
