well let's hope there will even be games to play. and what would competitive be? doubling our wins from last season's nightmare? starting a bit early with the rah-rahs this time around.

15 players on IR may have impacted performance, somewhat. Good for Atlanta for being a playoff participant in 2010, and that was due in large part to an uncommon stroke of consistent health. Plus, they didn't have complete shit at QB.

A record of 7-9 is competitive. I don't mind being 7-9 if we're on the way up. I hate being 7-9 when that's what you expect every year.

7-9 is pie-in-the-sky crazy talk at this point. as abusive stated one post earlier, they didn't have complete shit at qb. at best we don't know what we have at qb. and there's not a whole lot of cupcakes on our schedule. hell, even the lions look formidable with that dline up front and our secondary. hate to see the matchup of munnerlyn against johnson. or what the hell, gamble vs johnson. just isn't going to happen this year. but improving on last season will be nice.

In 2002, we came off a 1-15 mess, hired Rodney Peete to play QB, had Lamar Smith, Dee Brown and Nick Goings at HB, and the #2 defense in the league. 7-9, by no means, is impossible. But it will be dependent on the defense to stop the run, generate takeaways and maintain field position. I have a good deal of faith that we are more talented offensively right now than we were in camp '02. Let's also see how this schedule works out. Lot of cupcake wins can pile up, but in 02, we did beat the playoff-bound Browns in their house, and knocked NO out of the show week 17....still one of my favorite moments.

One of my favorite moments was buying crack with John Fox in Spartanburg, circa 2006.

    ya but...

as was examined to death this past year, maybe the 1-15 team wasn't nearly as bad as the 2-14 gem. i expect 4 or 5 wins. and that's probably me being optimistic, because typically i wait until i've seen them in preseason a bit before developing an opinion. but, i think moving in a new direction, and hopefully getting some bodies back on the field, and the lessons learned, and the removal of the dead horse that our staff was last year will be big. but that only takes you so far. got to have a qb, not sure we are there..yet.

Everything is crazy talk at this point. It's too early. We could just chill and forget about it or we can talk crazy because it's what we do this time of the year.

We also had a lame-duck head coach acting like a high school senior on the last day of school.
