    He sounds like he's coming to terms with the prospect that he could be released given he's owed so much money on his contract, there's not much cap hit, he's had a couple of down years, and there's a new direction both with the youth movement and the new coaching staff. I wonder if any of those talks with Hurney included the topic of taking a pay cut?

    We traded an aging DE ( cant remember his name ) to the dolphins in 2002. It was a slick move by hurney. Not Al Wallace...but Al Wallace outplayed him..

    I could see the Panthers coming to Smith and saying that no top teams are offering anything, and him being willing to stick around for his family. Rivera will try to sell this as something other than a rebuild, just because he wishes it wasn't.
