Ok i'll start the clock on how long before he leaves town for greener bigger pastures. This market is to small for the human highlight.

By the way, this kind of thinking is precisely why the bad teams stay bad. When you suck, you don't take chances. Good teams can afford to take chances, but shit teams need to hit on a high percentage of their moves.

every player in this draft was a chance so while i agree with your comment, i also think you take the player with the highest upside.

Which unquestionably without any fucking doubt whatsoever was NOT Newton. If everything goes perfect and he becomes as good as he possibly can be, he's still not an elite quarterback.

Doesn't matter. This franchise has been so dull for so long that any life, spirit or hope is a welcome change.

I can understand the "have to take the QB" thing but don't agree with it. Fuck excitement though.

neither was brady, rothlisberger, or josh freeman. its all what he makes out of it. but he has the physical talent. its up to him and the coaching staff to make the most out of it.

Brady & Roethlisberger both have higher passing proficiency than Newton will ever reach in any scenario, while Freeman is somewhere about Cam's best case as a passer. We drafted him #1 because he won a national championship and because he can scramble, not because of his ability to actually throw the football.

    Edit:
And I mean that Newton does not have the physical talent to be that level of passer. It's not just mental with him, although that's a huge issue itself. Physically he doesn't have that kind of potential as a quarterback.
