Kiper and mcshay make the panthers' pick. Neither takes cam

But if we are going to err on the side of taking a not consensus number one, I would rather take someone that is mostly ranked 2-4 than someone who most people should be ranked 10-14. The consensus higher pick would also likely generate more potential offers.

 

My last two Kiper memories, re: Carolina, were: unabashed love for Clausen, and his unrelenting criticism of the Beason pick.

Odd. My recall of that draft, on draft day, was Kiper ranting about us reaching for Beas, how he was undersized. Wrong, again. Fuck cock shit.

 

I remember Kiper way back in the day on a defunct radio station on the Gerry V show ranting about how Charlotte would not be a good fit for NFL football and how the expansion teams were going to go to Baltimore and St Louis.

They'll trade up for our pick, and we can not only trade down, but trade down a few times and accumulate all kinds of picks, because the 31 other teams are really antsy about hurrying up and helping us out. After that, we can just fix our problems this year and have the #1 D and a solid O with oh, say, two or three pro bowlers out of this draft, and just get Luck next year. Luck will fall to us.

In no way am I trying to say that saying we would pick Darius would guarantee someone trades up, but of course you know that. And, whether or not someone actually does trade up is out of the Panthers control - what they should be trying to to do is maximize the odds that they can get that to happen. And if it doesn't happen, then getting stuck with someone with mid round talent at first pick prices is bad bidness.

This is no different than being stucki with surplus merchandise at the end of the season. Either you can eat the whole cost or put it on sale in hopes of recouping some of your capital outlay.

 

Again. To paraphrase Darrin motherfucking Gantt, Cam's not mid round value on the Panthers board. Mayock's board isn't the holy grail that NFL teams go by. And if we traded down to 14, or even 10, Cam's long gone IMO.

And the little bit I bolded above, isn't happening. It doesn't maximize the odds at all. You can't mutiply fucking zero.
