Must of been about the money beacause basketball wise it's at best a lateral move. Then again, he is 61 so I guess the beach and sun had something to do with it.

Miami is a bottom half of Div 1 job even with them being in the ACC. They don't support the team but that's no suprise. The people of South Florida didn't support the Miami football team even in it's prime.

I agree which is why, other than the money, the UM job could actually be seen as a step down as far as basketball programs are concerned. UM does have a new AD though, so maybe he wants to take the basketball program in a new direction. Larranage is 61 though so I doubt he'll be staying around all that long.

I've heard that this was a move that was based more on things happening at George Mason than the attractiveness of the Miami job.

Yeah, some friction with the AD is what I've read.

I said "at best". George Mason is definitely a better program than Miami, at least it was. GMU hired Paul Hewitt so they will probably go in the crapper sooner rather than later.

That's what happens when the ACC lowers it's standards to let a Big East school in.

Semed to work out for football, at least with VA Tech.
