Sanchez was throwing to vastly better receivers, but the QB ratings were similar (63 to 58.4) and the completion percentage was almost identical (53.8 to 52.5). My point is simply that context matters. Clausen on a better team still looks bad, but better. Meanwhile Sanchez is nothing special, at least not yet.

I am not big on Sanchez and I did not watch him much as a rookie. It just seems like Clausen was really really bad and that no QB on a team that made the playoffs and won a game can be as bad as Clausen was last year.

Clausen was worse, but not by much. That's where your nonsense about the Panthers being a playoff team last season with a solid quarterback missed the mark.

Just looking back at how good the same basic team looked at the end of 2009 when Moore was playing well it make me think that last year's team could have been good with a solid QB.

That has sort of been the constant over the past several years. If the good Jake showed up the team was able to win games and make the playoffs. If bad Jake showed up or Jake was out all together then it struggled. Last year was very similar to 2007 in my mind. No chance to win due to inept QB play.

The problem is that the same players did not play at the same level in 2010 as they did in 2009, and it wasn't due to Clausen. I agree with you that the team should have been better than it was, but a lot of guys played like shit for whatever reason.

That is true. I kinda wonder if they did not put in as much effort once they saw that Clausen was a deer in the headlights. That and Fox being a lame duck could not have helped anything.

This is good stuff. Never liked Grossman either since he will chuck an untimely pick as well as anybody. Concerning Volek, I recently saw where the panthers made a statement (released a while ago) that they were not interested in him. Hope that's just part of their fake interest in a QB @ 1 to lure a trade down.
