I always liked Matt Moore. Cool West Coast kid who kept an even keel. Good to above average athleticism, nice arm, solid instincts. Been on the bench long enough. Deserved to get his shot.

And I agree that the concussion hurt him.

Epic fail by the front office to not have a credible bullpen for Moore. It's hindsight, but I believe it's the single biggest blunder the organization made last summer. John fox knew it too, and it reeked from him.

I'm good with Moore having another go.

Clemens has experience in our offense and he may be able to do better after being out from under Schottenheimer. I don't think he did that well with his time in 2007, but it's worth a shot. Same with Volek, regardless of our experience with him via staff, though you'd want a guy who's done so well in limited time to be interested in starting and he re-signed to be a backup. Grossman would be interesting, but he's that level of big armed Coryell guy who doesn't cut it because of accuracy. The Chicago thing, fair enough, he slung it too much, but in the WCO he was still 55%.

Yeah, Clemens hasn't shown anything to suggest that he's a diamond in the rough, but has some tools and is worth a shot simply because he hasn't shown himself to be completely retarded behind center.

This. He can play. Wonder if the Lions would trade him?

Maybe, but that kind of defeats the point. The whole idea is that there are a lot of guys who can be adequate behind center, and you take the one with the best balance between potential and cost. I'm guessing that Detroit would want at least a 3rd for Hill, which makes him a lot less attractive. Meanwhile anyone could have picked him up in free agency.

I just at least wish I'd happen upon a story about Clausen saying to his receivers: "Hey guys, let's go practice!"

I know it's new coaches and playbook and all that. But go play pitch and fucking catch or something. Be a leader. Something.

I dunno. Maybe he is. Maybe he's got the gleam, and is about to turn the NFL on it's ass, and set the league on fire, and throw for 5,223 yards and 98 TDs...maybe he's done with the bullshit. Sick and damned tired. Maybe he's ready to be the next Panther Statue.

Clausen looked awful as a rookie, no question, but so did Mark Sanchez.

Sanchez was not good as a rookie but he was better than Clausen. Clausen threw for 3 TDs all year. Sanchez had 12. One of Clausen's touchdowns was a long run by Stewart.
