Agreed wholeheartedly with the Newton train being all about a reaction to Clausen!!!!

Same issues?? Seriously?? Newt may have issues but I'd hardly think they will be in the universe as JC's. Accuracy, a concern?? Yes, very much so. That and being able to read defenses. Can he live up to all the hype? I kinda doubt it. Can he be a winner. I think so. Can Jimmy? No.

The biggest things I like about Newt is what I most dislike about Jimmy. People love to be around Newt and he has grit. He makes the game fun. And he's got enough talent for guys to give him every chance as long as he takes it serious and doesn't become a fuckup off the field. If he will set it upon himself to be responsible, work with kids in the community and stay clear of nasty women, he has a chance to be something really special.

    No.
I trust Newton's raw ability will translate, long-range, at the next level. I'm in the minority, but right now, nobody really knows shit. Go back and look at the last few drafts, top-10 picks. Derrick Harvery. Vern Gholston. Several examples of seemingly good picks, going very bad.

I'd feel a fuckton better about any draft pick if we had Bulger/Volek/veteran signed and OTA's going on. The whole offseason is fucked.

I feel we wouldn't be discussing his great athleticism.

This, and Cam Newton and Jimmy Clausen aren't in the same ballpark. The only similarity they have coming in, was that they were (are) rookies.

perhaps, but his great athleticism his greatest asset, without it nobody would be talking about him for round one.
I think most peoples concerns are he has spent a year running a simplistic offense with few reads.
Like Gruden told him he is going to have to go to France and learn french pretty quick.
I am not judging if he can do it or not but it's going to be a huge step for him that is not going to happen overnight.
The NFL's current labor issues just compound that.
