one thing you can count on is media manipulation. If we all believed every article we'd be fucked. Sporting News?! HELL NO. Someone show me to a clip of gruden making that statement, or at least a more reputable source

If Gruden is in fact stating cam is the best bet in this draft I would believe the man is either losing his senses or he hates the panthers so much he'd do whatever he could to get cammy in a panther uni. And i wouldn't seriously believe that . .. hey, this time last year he tried his best to move JC down everyones board. The panther FO should have listened to him then.

Dude you're grasping at straws here, and this time last year he was hyping jimmy Claussen, not badmouthing him.

I saw the Clausen part already and I'll admit to being wrong about that. I may have got that mixed up with everyone else slurping Clausen. However you're taking this Newton thing WAY too seriously. You've got an OBVIOUS attitude about it.

The OBVIOUS thing to me is that there are enough red flags and negatives that the kid provides all by himself (he doesn't really need my help in providing them) that he should be avoided by a team in the panthers position. Sure, take a flier if you are a dumbed down offense team, or if you can stash him for a couple o' few years. . . but what team in the top 10 can afford him as a gamble or a luxury? Anyone who is pulling for this team is not taking the pick seriously enough if they are okay with cammy #1 overall. Just seems really stupid to me

Newton looked uncomfortable in the "interview" format.

And completely at ease and in command of himself on the field.

Entertainer and Icon...we could use one around here. Seriously.

Watching Newton process information - watch his eyes especially, he's intelligent enough. I don't think he'll be all that committed to classroom work, though. He will become a film geek eventually because circumstance will demand it. But it's a necessary evil to the guy at this point, in my opinion.

And before anyone goes off about how the Panthers shouldn't draft a player that isn't 100% consumed with total excellence in everything he does, I think it's vitally important that the franchise have someone, anyone, on their roster that we fans can look forward to watching on any given Sunday.

Cam Newton loves playing the game. To me, that's obvious. I cannot say the same for Jimmy Clausen. Or even Matt Moore. But Newton gets off on playing, and whatever adoration that comes from being the focal point of attention.

    Go figure. He's a quarterback.

Red flags from the video? He's immature. That'll hurt him early in his career more than he realizes. Newton also isn't much of a student. Worse case? Dwayne Jarrett-type flop. Will he keep his nose clean? I dunno, and that's telling. I think it'll depend on whom he surrounds himself with, and that's telling, too.
