Well, contrary to popular opinion we don't have the worst attendance in the league.

If you really think there are 10,000 more people just waiting to buy tickets for the Charlotte Cougars then there are some beyond petty people in this town.

I just don't think people give a shit about NBA in Charlotte anymore. It will never be like it was. Just look at this forum. Do you really think that the 15 Hornets posters that left would all come back and it would be just like old times if we had a new name?

You really think a new name would sell out that building? Dig-It and SDS hit it, the only thing selling out that building is wins. And they were doing it last year, I went to the games. The building was full during the playoff run and the two playoff games.

That's what will build the fanbase. That and having the games on TV. The Bobcats made a horrible mistake on their early tv contracts and it cost them dearly in building fanbase. Now the only thing that can do it is wins.

DJ White has been a nice find. Cunningham had an amazing block on Garnett last night during a 16-0 run in the fourth quarter. What a comeback. Bonnell had a nice snippet up about grit and how overused it is, but man, nice to see them not give up last night.

Honestly, the Panthers don't sell tickets like they used to, either. The playoff game was only a sellout in technicality, there were tickets ALL OVER going for under face value.

Charlotte may just be settling into their 'Atlanta' pattern. Disappointing, but understandable on the basketball side of things at least.

Let's also say this, whatever you want to about the downtown arena but even as crappy as this year has been, even trading our 'franchise guy' in the middle of a playoff run, the arena has never been nearly as dead as those last two Hornets years. Of course, the crowds came back for the second to last Hornets playoff push (with the headbands) but that regular season the building was a ghost town.

It's not like that at TWC. You keep talking about this miniscule fanbase but there are 12,000 people in there mostly in Bobcats gear cheering the team on a nightly basis. It could be a lot worse. The energy is a lot better there than it was say three or four years ago.

If they would change their name I would buy four season tickets and a membership to the VIP Club.

    and a hat.

MJ has an open forum every week, you should tell him that. I'm sure he'll be eager to fill my two seats next year cause I'm not renewing.

You'd probably have to buy a pair of his new shoes too. The name change is going to run about $20 mil.

I just think there's only so much "expansion team" an NBA city can take.

We went though an initial expansion team with the Hornets, and supported it completely for years.
Then they boned us and left town.

Then we were forced to deal with ANOTHER expansion process, and a whole new team . This new team had a horrid owner, a dopey name, and a horrific TV deal. And they absolutely blew every lottery pick we had during this second awful expansion process.

Now, since this second team is still terrible after years of "expansion", we have to blow up the mess that's there, and start a THIRD rebuilding.
I know of no one who has the patience for this.
