yeah. What other teams have doesn't bother me. There's one Pro Bowl quarterback in our division, and a pair of competent ones. Not every recognizeable name who has more than a couple games of success is an elite QB.

Gabbert has the potential to be as good as Berlein and Delhomme when they were clicking. To me, that is worth the first overall pick. Some would say you should get a superstar, but an above average QB would be great.

About being Chicken: You could be right. His tackles SUCKED. However, many times his line was not able to block a 3-man rush. There was a shadow and 7 defenders. If we draft this guy, he better learn to step up and we better protect his butt.

even IF cammy did well and deserved ROTY the way he comes off he would not stay in carolina. He'd go all hollywood and he's the perfect candidate to acquire the sleaziest agent possible to get him Brady/Manning dollas immediately at the very earliest opportunity. He'd be a damn bigass headache either way

Newton is a piece of crap as a human being

and will be a huge bust. He is an athlete playing QB and his first instinct is to run, like he is still in college, or throw the ball high and be picked off. Yep, he looks great in a uniform, but it is all about Cam "The icon and Entertainer". We will be very sorry if we select him. I'd rather take Darius and when the CBA is straightened out, trade for Kolb in Philly. This meets two major needs, gives us an experienced NFL playmaker at the QB position, and is not a stopgap solution.

Why do people think Kolb is good? Did y'all not see him play when he was the annoonted starter in Philly? He sucked and that is with weapons at every skill position. The last time Andy Reid traded away a "starting" QB it didn't work out so well for the team on the receiving end. Kolb is a good backup, nothing more.

    Really? Great googly moogly.

Auburn wasn't the highest profile school to go after Newton, just the one with the best opportunity. I don't completely dismiss your concern because he clearly does have a huge ego, and a desire to be "more than just a football player," but I don't think that necessarily means he would leave due to the media market. That said, I do not trust his personality either.

Newton threw for 2854 yards and 30 touchdowns with a 66.1 completion percentage while being intercepted only 7 times. He definitely has flaws in terms of his footwork, throwing motion, and reading defenses, but this is not an athlete playing quarterback. He's a legitimate passer, just one with a lot of development left to do since he barely played in college. The Vince Young comparisons are pretty fair, but Newton is already a better passer than Young has ever been. I don't know if he has the temperament or work ethic to develop himself into an above average passer, but the tools are there. *shrug* He's not an easy guy to dismiss, even with the unbelievable amount of baggage.

Kolb is what we thought he was. He's probably better than Moore, but Moore wouldn't cost us anything to bring back, while Philly wants a king's ransom. I'm really getting on board with the idea of bringing back Moore for another crack at the starting job if Rivera doesn't decide on someone like Leinart instead.

I think that's a better discription of Gabbert.

I don't really love Cam, either. If we gamble on someone, I'd rather gamble on Peterson.
