Gantt mentioned today on Clausen when asked about whether coaches put him in a position to look good:

The fact he quit listening to (the coaches) at some point probably didn't help.

 

This is the QB you're defending?

I've lamented that fact before, and certainly hasn't stopped me from talking about things that are unflattering about him. It's not that Clausen deserves it, it's that it doesn't matter. He seems to have become an inevitable part of the conversation, you don't give up on talented players.

I think one of these analyst sites said he was 56% from 0-9 yards, which is godawful.

But, when all your throws are under ten yards that's going to happen. When you don't see a QB throw deep you have no idea what he can actually do. And, if you wanted to excuse the 'stopped listening to coaches' - I can pull out various ideas - including that most of you ripped Rip all year anyway, and same for Davidson, whose best excuse himself was that Fox held him back; you could also say it was "such a big deal" that Gantt didn't even write an article about it.

But, based on what he himself says, Gantt might not have written a story about it without a quotable from someone involved. He seemed so fucking distraught that Fox wouldn't talk, and that's fine, but man up and write about something anyway.

Is Clausen fixable? Do you think the Panthers think he is fixable? I'm getting the sense that they don't think so.
