Just noticed this, Sendek at Arizona State this year :

    10-16, 2-12 (Pac 10), last in Pac10

Actually worse than Sidney. Maybe this will finally shut up the "shouldn't have fired Herb" idiots (though I doubt it).

It shouldn't. Herb was taking the Pack to the tournament, sweet 16, etc. Isn't that what Pack fans want to do now? The Heel/Duke envy got the best of them.

    "Sigh". Here we go again.
    Herb's first 5 years-NIT or nothing.
Herb's 2nd 5 years- won around 18-20 games a year, getting knocked out in 1st or 2nd round of NCAA.
Overall ACC record-72-88. All the while, playing a slow down Princeton style that scared off all real talent.

Just making the dance and getting waxed isn't the goal.
10 years coaching, made the second weekend of the Tourney 1 time.

Compared to Sid? What does a State fan want? To NOT make the tourney? Herb is 10x the coach Sid seems to be. Herb was going to the Sweet 16. It came down to not beating CH and Duke, and that's a shame.

Nobody compared him to Sid. I don't know why you people keep coming up with that.

Herb couldn't coach. End. Of. Argument. Wolfpack fans got sick and tired of losing in the last few minutes of games because Herb regularly got out-coached. Show me a game in all his years in Raleigh where the 'Pack was behind by three or more points in the final moments of the game and genious Sendek coached the team to a win. Sendek got sick of the criticism and left town. Good luck Herb with your next job coaching Whistling Pines Junior College after Arizona St. fires you.

Well, State went with Sid, who replaced Herb. Obvioulsy someone at NC State thought Sid would be better than Herb. I'm sure A LOT of teams that would love to have a Sweet 16 caliber coach. Maybe State will hit the jackpot with the next coaching search but if last time is any indication, probably not. Why is that most folks, sans NC State fans, think letting go of Herb was a mistake? BTW, I do pull for State when they play anyone but the Niners. Really, I do.
