...according to your interpretation of the guy who wasn't in the room's account of what happened.

I hope they bust the union. I'd sacrifice a season for that shit.

I hope they round up all the attractive chicks who don't like sex and make them run wind sprints until they puke and/or shit gravy.

un-named sources...which in this day and age, mean very little to me. Add to that the fact that this didnt even go public until a week later when a player who wasn't even present mentioned it in an interview. If it was so freaking bad, why didn't it hit the presses immediately?

The reality is that your explaination isn't the only simple one.

Anyway, it doesn't freaking matter. this is going to be a difficult negotiation. There will likely be much worse statements lobbed across the table before a deal gets done.

Shit, I'm starting to think skipping a season would bring the Panthers more in the way of long-term gains than dipping our toes into an inevitible 6-10 "yay-fest".

Not that we would get Luck next year anyway. Fucking demon heart + black cat = eternal fuckedness.

He is to blame for it. You can quote me on that, however I never said HE was the laughing stock of the league, you said I said that. Big difference there but don't back off putting words in my mouth, that might show some character.

I never mentioned Kraft once, so here you go again. And are you that insecure about the Panthers that the mention of JR driving the franchise into the ground encites an attack on the Patriots? That's pretty sad.

I don't know Richardson, but I think it's safe to surmise that he's an asshole, particularly on the business end. It's probably the main reason he's had success in a relatively mid-sized market over a short period of time.

    The blemishes:

    • Polian
    • Sean Gilbert
    • 2000's defensive line spending spree
    • 2001
    • Rae Carruth
    • Fred Lane
    • 2010
There were other problems along the way, but those above are the highlights.

I don't think JR's lost his marbles, or is trying to move the team, or even sell it. I also don't think he's doing nearly as much to foul up the current CBA negotiations as much of the media would have you believe. So far, we have an outspoken place kicker bitching to a shitty talk show about something he was not even in the room to witness.

Again, I have no doubt that he's a monumental asswipe. Most former employees would tell you that. Most former players would not, as he tends to take a different approach with that contingent.

Richardson, once a CBA is reached, will have more money (arguably) than any other owner to spend on players, and other football-related initiatives. If, once the dust settles, he makes a strong effort to spend his abundance of cash wisely on a solid roster, I have no doubt that the coaching staff he has put together can put together a few winning seasons.

It's a QB league, in many ways. You really don't see too many teams, if any, win multiple division, conference, or SB titles without consistency at that position. It will be critical to the future of this franchise for Hurney (god bless) to work with Rivera and company to either develop Clausen into that QB, or to find one over the next 24 months.

A big part of the reason this team never had back-to-back winning seasons under Fox was Jake Delhomme's inconsistency.

Demon Heart might prove me wrong and completely drive his product into the shitter. He hasn't yet, despite popular opinion, but he very easily could.

I just don't see it, and again, I don't think he would have made such a strong effort to put together a very solid coaching staff if his intent were to tank.

Oh, and truth be told, I really could give a shit who plays for, coaches or owns the fucking team. It's just time to put together a string of winning seasons and develop consistency (and not of the 7-9, 8-8, 7-9 variety).

I see a great deal of potential in Rivera + staff.

I have no problem stating that I misread what you wrote, but you commenting on character is pretty funny.

Where did I say that you did mention Kraft? And I never attacked the Patriots, just stated the history of the franchise and that you like to get a rise out of people by criticising the Panthers.

The fact is that the Panthers aren't a "laughing stock" as you say. They have had some down years, but over all they have been a decently run organization with owners who have been well respected by the league.
