Sounds like Drew's parents have an overly optimistic view of his talent. Wherever he goes he'll still be the mediocre player he's always been.

I'd love to see ATL waste a second round pick on him in a couple of years.

Drew Sr. wouldn't have the balls to do that to risk losing his job.

Hubert Davis was just on ESPN talking about this situation and brought up a good similarity to his career. I had forgotten how bad/mediocre he was at the beginning of his career (most remember he was given a scholarship as a family favor to his uncle) and he talked about how frustrated he was that he wasn't starting. He complained to his dad that he wanted to transfer, and his dad told him to talk to Coach Smith about it. Davis said by the end of that meeting both were laughing, Davis played better and Smith coached him better. His senior season Davis averaged over 20 ppg and stunningly to me had a very long NBA career. He obviously proved it was no fluke, most don't remember his early college struggles.

Point is, would all that have happened if he had just gotten frustrated, tweeted some bullshit and quit? Davis doubted it, Drew taking the easy way out is sad when thought about in that context (not that Drew has the talent that Davis had but Davis was disappointing as hell his first 2.5 years as well.)

Agreed. This causes Drew to come off as a little pouting punk. He loses his starting job, because frankly he's out played by a freshman. Instead of trying to become a better player, he decided to pack up and leave without even telling his roomate. So basically he'd rather start and the team struggle as a whole vs. winning and the whole team playing better ball. Furthermore rather than manning up and finishing out the year he up and quits midseason. Who is gonna want him as a transfer leading their team?

This was even better than Rapingberger losing yesterday.
