Just heard that they're going to be making massive cuts at the Observer, so maybe that's why they were so irritable.

I don't understand, Collin, even though I agree with a lot of what you said, why you feel entitled to a response of your liking? They answered your basic inquiry, which was why they do not write the article about Hurney's job. If your livlihood was on the line and you chose not to put something into writing you didn't believe, then would you make contrary statements to a stranger with a code name?

You were not looking for an answer as much as you were seeking confirmation. When they did not give it to you, you seemed to enjoy the conflict. Who cares what they write? If you think it and have reasons, why is that not enough? After all, if you can substatiate your reasons and they are legitimate, then I would safely assume the powers that be have considered your opinions as well.

It was interesting, however. I will give you that.

This thread is an awesome reminder how much better things are when Collin isn't around. Slightly above average football knowledge combined with a Jesus complex...no thank you.

I have to respectfully disagree. He keeps this place interesting, otherwise it has times where it's a huge borefest.

I'm really enjoying this thread. A few observations:

I agree with Strat about Sorenson giving more substance in this e-mail exchange than anything in the observer recently.

While, I agree with Sorenson's points on Pep -he didn't really respond to Collin's points on Hurney paying too much for marginal players (except Jake) or the ill effects of trading future picks. His basic argument is "Fox did it too".

If I'm the Observer, I get Collin, Mags and any other knowledgeable/articulate/coherent fan to challenge the beat writers and/or panthers management on the decisions made in a weekly column. I'd read it every time. As it is now, the headline is all I usually read - if that.

you really are fairly new. Most of us have stopped wondering/making sense of motivations on this a while back. I wrote thoughts on why someone wouldn't write an OMg fiRE HURRRRRRNEY article right now also, and like everybody else, it was ignored. The gist of it the topic is "write this article, or else".
