I worked at a newspaper for a while, but it takes many years before you can move from recitation of events to actually being able to write opinions. Plus, newspapers are a dying industry. Not only are subscriptions down across the board, but blogs are basically doing a better job of covering their respective teams anyway. I tried doing the independent site route for a while, but you fags never donated any money via Paypal, so I gave up after that season. At least I still have the magazine gig, as that gives me press access to teams, an outlet for my opinions, and some cash while doing it.

Yas was the best one the Observer had, but I eventually got resentful that several of our Email conversations ended up being uncredited column fodder. Ironic that I'm wishing for that to happen now. Actually, Tommy Tomlinson did the best Panthers piece the fishwrap has run in a while when he did that piece on Richardson. I actually loved that Diaw article they did in the "A" section as well. It seems like the sports department is the one dragging the paper down. But yeah, there are a multitude of reasons why I could never even dream of working for the Observer, most of them being my fault. That's not what this is about, though, as I just wish the guys who do have those jobs would actually show a little bit of interest and effort.

They're generally not critical until they sense blood in the water, as with Peppers and then Fox. As long as Hurney has the obvious support of Richardson, he won't get questioned. And as for the radio, I abhor call-in shows, plus I'm not looking to attack Hurney. Me telling him I think he's done a terrible job doesn't actually change anything, and would be pretty dickish since I don't doubt that he's actually tried to do well. He was just never suited for that position in the first place, so it's not his fault. I feel the same way about Richardson giving Capers control over personnel. Those guys just never should have been put in the situation.

Lol. Thanks for the education lesson on the news business.

Shocking to me is the amount of time staffed journalists are spending arguing with a panthers fan. It's almost unprecedented, and a little embarrassing.

Seriously. The time Sorensen, in particular, put into rambling back and forth with Collin was ridiculous. Gantt, I can understand, because he's a little salty, as one coach would say.

Sorensen was toying with Collin...seems fairly obvious to me.
