pretty much agree with all of this. There's a reason he was team captain for Bears first game this year, and dont think they gave it to him just because of the big contract he signed.

So, how do you explain 2007 ? 2.5 sacks for the entire year ?
Plus, he wet himself when Richardson told him he was to be counted on as a leader here. He's just a dude collecting a paycheck. The Bears made him a captain because they're fucking idiots.

 

If being an idiot is what it takes to get us back into 2 NFC championships in 3 years, then I'm thinking we should schedule Hurney for a labotomy.

 

He turned down the big dollars from the Panthers because he felt he could be cornholed in Chicago by someone with a bigger butt plug. It was nice while you were away.

 

I'm not mad at Pep for leaving, but I'm not rooting for him either. He's an above average player that doesn't live up to the hype. Oh well.

I do believe what he said about the whole situation here over what the Panthers front office says... but in the end, money we're not giving him can be better spent anyway.

 

Most likely, the Panthers never submitted an actual offer on paper to make him the highest paid defensive player in the league, they just discussed parameters with his agent, which is like me posting here that I'll give you 100 grand for your car. Until an offer is submitted in writing, then it doesn't mean much.

"Above average," sure. Good lord. For teams in professional sports, the best thing you can do is to pay for superstar talent and avoid paying for mediocre players. Whether you choose to admit it or not, Peppers is a game-changing type player. In fact, it's amusing to me how fans like you accused Julius of being inconsistent when his production was actually much more consistent than peers like Freeney and Allen, who have always tended to have 2-3 sack games against inferior tackles but then do nothing for the next 2-3 weeks. But getting back to the point, the Panthers under Marty Hurney have made an effort to pay mediocre talent. Mike Wahle, Ken Lucas, Chris Gamble, Jordan Gross, Travelle Wharton, etc. These are guys that are solid players and can help a team, but overpaying them is just about the worst thing you can do in any league that has a salary cap. You're better off getting slightly worse players at much cheaper prices, since you then have the money to spend on truly elite performers. Julius isn't the kind of talent you can easily replace. Gross is.
