I'm not totally against drafting Newton. As a matter of fact he's probably my favorite guy in the top 10 or so. (Assuming he comes out)

But I've got a really hard time warranting a #1 overall for him. Hell I'd damn near be willing to trade down if only for a cheaper contract at this point.

    I'd rather have Robert Quinn

    I'm in SEC country

and we need to stay as far away for Newton as possible. He works well in a college spread system, but is dumb as a rock and pro defenses will make him another bust like Jamarcus Russell. We would do much better trading with the Eagles for Kolb and exchanging # 1s.

Except we can't. Until there is a new CBA there will be ZERO player movement.

Something tells me that San Fran would be willing to trade up in the next 5 days or so. Just a hunch.

This is the one trade I'd decline outright. Purely out of spite. No way I'd let Luck pull an Elway on us. Sit your ass out, enjoy frozen Buffalo next year.

Instead of Kolb Vic is a free agent. Just cough up the money and start winning

    No doubt. My sentiments exactly.

Actually, my sentiments were more like, fuck him, we'll draft him next year at 1/5th the price.

But no way would I consider trading the pick to SF before Jan 15th.

    We're not getting Luck. Period.

They are the only team he would come out for, if he were to come out. If that's their game they will pay handsomely to make that happen, so we should just keep this devalued pick instead of parlaying it into something that could help us out a lot?

    Sure about that?
