It is not like Hurney and JR set the table for Fox and he failed to get it done. They could have went after Drew Brees or Matt Cassel just as easily as the Saints and Chiefs did. I have little doubt that the team that went 12-4 in 2008 could have at least made the playoffs in 2009 and 2010 with the addition of Cassel, let along Brees.

    Cutler was also available recently.

whether we get one or not this year, it sounds like they've realized we need a very good qb, that we need to be able to score points, that the league has changed, and that most folks are tired as hell of our boring o because it stopped working.
i don't know how much goes on fox and how much goes on the office.
it seems fox was happy enough w/ mediocre jake as a base level, and win by 3pts. our superbowl run was fucking magical, and its practically impossible it ever happened. think about all the last second, last few moment miracles. it was fucking magic. wouldn't trade it in.
i don't think richardson really believes in the probability of doing shit like that, in that way, very often. i sure as fuck don't. i think the philosophy of the team was on fox.

Fox failed to get it done in 2005. We fucking lost to New Orleans on opening day at home...a team that won three freaking games that year. Add to that losses to inferior Miami and Dallas. So instead of having at least one home game and possibly a first round bye, we had to play four games on the road (including the last regular season game in ATL) to get to the Super Bowl. The table was set...we were peaking but were out of fucking gas. That falls on the head coach.

Fox and Jake were attached at the fucking hip. and Brees was never an option here as he was a FA in 2006 and coming off of major shoulder surgery. The Saints had nothing to lose in signing him...so essentially there was no risk for them. It paid off for sure, but don't go throwing his name around here like he was ever an option.

Until 2010, Fox was a part of the player selection team. Jesus christ...i think i am gonna have to put you on ignore.

That loss to New Orleans in 2005 was a rip off really. The officials felt sorry for them about Katrina. The loss to Dallas was crap to, the field goal was tipped but they called roughing anyway letting Dallas win. Injuries had more to do with our loss to Seattle in the NFCCG than running out of gas.

Oh yeah...the Anti-Carolina Panthers NFL Conspiracy theory. Yeah, not buying it. We should have fucking blown out New Orleans and we didnt. We came out flat in both games and that falls on the coaching staff. keep making your excuses for fox.

We made the playoffs that year and won two road playoff games. We made it to the NFC championship game but came up short. Foster broke his leg against the Bears and Goings got knocked out early. That was a very solid year and I do not have to defend Fox for what happened.

That was my take as well.

If Luck was waiting for a sign, JR gave it to him in that press conference.

It was a solid year for sure. But it should have been better. At a minimum, we should have another division title and Silver wouldn't have had to bitch about paying for playoff tickets that weren't played here. And you blaming the officials for us losing games where we came out flat against inferior opponents is doing nothing but making excuses.

But us ignorant fans realized this 4-5 years ago.

So sure, JR has had enough of John Fox, I'm fine with that. The problem I'm having with JR is that he needs (this franchise needs) someone with a spine and some football smarts who will speak up and give him some advice. I'm no more sold on Hurney than any of you,,, our rebuilding seems to be squarely on JR, and his presser didn't impress anyone.
