For whatever it's worth (not much):

Clausen's QB rating in his last 4 starts (this includes the Chicago debacle) rivals that of the last 4 starts from McNabb and Palmer.

I still think if all things were equal, and everyone was happy and healthy, Matt Moore would have shaken off the week one shitbag of a game and gone on to have a productive year. Not great--just productive.

Moore's concussion in week one was just one more domino that fell.

When you invest a 2nd on a QB who many believe is as ready as your incumbent to be the starter, you reach a junction during the summer where you have to decide where you want to go with it. The team was 100% behind Moore, and guys like Reed and Gantt were talking him up--saying how much he stood out on the practice field and how confident he appeared.

Clausen was ill-prepared to step into the situation he was asked to step into: late in a game vs. Tampa, trailing by two scores. He comes right in a drives the team to the goalline, and just like usual, Davidson fucks the pooch.

We just never got it going. Slow starts, particularly when it's so heavily concentrated on one phase of the game (passing), kill a season. The fact that this staff took almost 1/2 of an NFL season to get one their QB's to 60% and 300 yards in a game is pure insanity.

    Fuck.

I still believe Clausen can be a good QB and his play was more of a reflection of the poor play of the team as a whole. Sure, if we had a veteran QB, we might have had 4 more wins.

That being said, I'd take Luck in a heartbeat. Nothing against Clausen, but you want competition. If your QB can't perform when his job is on the line, how will he perform when the game is on the line? At best case, we have a good QB and a high quality backup or trade bait. At worse, we realize we suck at drafting QBs.

    all of this.
And yeah, a lot changed in the last month. There were some solid games in there before the concussion, a little growth. I didn't want a QB pick. Now, I just don't think there are other options if Luck is there. You can't pass that up, no matter how much there are people who want to somehow bypass it for coached-up backups for the Broncos.

I drank the kool-aid... I wanted so bad for him to be good, but he's not, and he will never be an elite QB in this league.

Luck is the pick if he's there. I don't have any doubt Harbaugh takes an NFL job and Luck comes out.

but the damn wasted picks on Clausen & Edwards still sting... hopefully Hurney doesn't do anything that stupid this time around and trade next years pick to move up...

hopefully Clausen's gone... I really don't care if we can't trade him, as long as he's gone.

I think thats going a bit far. I think Jimmy is just gonna need a few years to develop. Remember, HurFox had a habit of drafting Juniors with their top picks. Its not like he went pick crazy out there, bar the initial fumbling issues he didnt go all Jeff Lewis.

Luck will be another but you just cant pass because we drafted Jimmy in round 2 and paying him 5 mil over 4 years. Its not like QBs never get injured either. Favre and Manning are the exception not the rule.

Agreed that the picks look wasted if Luck is the new QB
