we didn't have an actual thread on this guy and we had two on Marty's prick child. so:

Late last year, even as his leukemia worsened, Walsh, who twice coached Stanford (1977-78 and '92-94), remained active in the Cardinal's search. In the energetic and enthusiastic Harbaugh, Walsh saw "a nonstop person" who is "as close to Dick Vermeil" -- his longtime friend who coached the St. Louis Rams to the Super Bowl XXXIV championship -- "as anyone I've seen."

I will never forget the 1995 AFC Title Game, where he was making plays in the 4th quarter--the near miss on the hail mary.

He's a fiery dude. If his brother wasn't 3-for-3 in playoff appearances so far, I'd be more skeptical. Jimmy's ready, and it makes too much sense.

Luck's not staying in Stanford, not with his stock higher than any top-QB prospect in years. Harbaugh would love to coach Luck for years. Nobody can deny that.

Carolina has Luck's rights, if he does indeed come out.

    Just make the shit happen.

Lock down Harbaugh and it happens. Or, if not, and Luck stays, Christ, we still have the best coach available. I truly believe that.

Guy's gonna be better than his brother. Only difference is I wonder whether, coming from college and having done it all himself, there'd be less of a push to go get a bigtime assistant or two.

it is but I look at it this way, even if he went there you're looking at 2 or 3 years to get rid of Rich Rod's guys and get yours in place.
plus even a high end money offer from Michigan should be exceeded by an NFL team

Depends on if he wants in the NFL. If he does, and he likes the Luck kid, we may have a shot.

One comment I have heard about Harbaugh is "It isn't all about money, he loves the game"

I think he would make a lot of sense here and not just for the Luck scenario. He's taken a school with Ivy League-like academics and put a winning football team on the field. The players love playing for him and he knows the game inside and out. I think hiring him would also do a lot to reenergize the Panthers fan base too. I don't think we're that far off to be honest and Harbaugh would be an excellent fit with a young team.

Maybe he could get Ditka to be an assistant under him?
