If you look at the biggest need areas on our team I think you will find they are:

    QB
    DT
    Guard

You do not take a guard with the #1 overall pick. You rarely take a guard in the first round at all.

You could take a QB or DT with the #1 pick. I am not as well versed about who is available and how good they are so maybe Mags or someone can tell if there is a DT out there that is a better prospect than Luck.

To some degree you ignore need and go BPA when you have the #1 pick but I think it makes no sense to double up on an area where we are already good. Drafting to replace Beason for example would not make sense.

Take Luck with first pick. Now move on and find a way to get the 2nd pick back.

QB is no question our biggest need. Should use our highest pick.

If this doesn't happen, I'll write Jerry a letter in the observor and pay for the space myself.

I think Newton could be better than the guy down in Tampa. Would that kinda QB play help us win more games than a DT (Fairley has been likened to a Sapp)? Thats what we gotta ask ourselves. I get the Luck thing I was addressing alternatives in case he stayed in. We need a friggen leader at QB and Orton doesnt get me pumped up for 2011, im sorry.

Carson Palmer will prbably be cut or traded if a new deal can be worked out in advance--he would welcome it I am sure. He is expecting crazy money next year, and word on the street is that Cincy doesn't want to pay it.

I'm not sure about Palmer. He's got two great WR, and lacks results whatsoever. I'm not really sure why. I know he crumbles under heavy pressure and forces balls.

I would not give more than a short term mid level deal to Palmer. He has not been the same since he tore up his knee.

Palmer tried to throw 5 or 6 picks against us, and I believe he has done that in a lot of his games, no thanks.

I don't know what his problem is, a couple of years back I would have taken him in a minute.

no one else thinks Newton's kinda shady? In trouble at UF, in controversy in AU.
