CBS offered him a contract and he declined? In other words they wanted him to take a pay cut due in part to the declining ratings and he said no. I wonder what % of the on-line salaries for FNZ were made up by Packer? More importantly what will the inbred callers do for entertainment until he comes back on another station in 6 months.

eh I could take Packer in doses. Its the loud mouth producers interrupting, some of the dumbass co hosts, and the same redneck callers that call in every day I hated. If they would have eliminated that crap the show could have been better. The station got him good guests and he conducted good interviews.

Mac Attack is NOT the answer, or espn radio. That shit is just as bad.
Pack says he will be back in the area in 6 months. I hope he doesnt take over the guys on 730 who are getting started.I like them

He is quoted in the article about being back on in July(after the 6 months non compete)in this market.

 

I think that remains to be seen.

Today his only option is 730. As of the last published ratings they did not even show in the Charlotte PPM. You don't have to have a degree in advertising to tell they have very little advertising sold. That means they are not making any money. The fellow that owns the station has a track record of flipping his station's formats at the drop of a hat. There is no guarantee 730 will be sports in 6 months.

I can not see another sports station on in Charlotte. There was a rumor that Greater Media (owns WBT) was very interested in buying 105.3 FM. If Greater Media was to buy it I could see them moving WBT to 105.3 and making 1110 sports. That is being done in other markets. Apparently the fellows that own 105.3 want way more than it is worth so Greater Media has taken a step back.

I guess we will have to wait and see...
