I still can't believe nobody except me is bitching about the non-2 point conversion attempt. To me, that was just plain stupid. There's no difference in being down by 1 point or 2 points, when the other option was being tie game.

I thought Clausen did fine, but then again, he could suck balls next week. Just hope he improves. If he gets a little better each week, that's about the best we can hope for, IMO.

I was curious about the no go for the 2, but at the time, I didn't care. We're 1-222200, so I figured...I'd like to see us play close, show improvement, and get robbed, so we have a high draft pick, and some trade leverage to get more picks. :/

    Kinda sad, huh.

It was entirely too early in the game to go for two, and given the choice between Kasay nailing an exp, and our current offensive line punching it in from 2-yards out, I will take the sure thing with the exp.

We lost the game because Kasay, ironically, missed two makable field goals. That, and our defense let retard check it down to Hillis like 29 times on their final drive.

I will take production too but his demeanor makes me think he will never produce at a high level. The QB has to lead the team and he just seems like a deer in the headlights. Rookie or not he should be more in charge.

I understand what you're getting at, but really, all that matters is execution.

We've quit Jake's psychotic approach cold turkey since last year, so a lot of people want to see Moore, Clausen be "fiery" and "a screamer" and "look like a leader."

Montana comes to mind. He was a pretty marginal deep-ball passer who had a very vanilla demeanor. But he got linked up with the perfect coach for his personality and skill set, and from there, they won titles.

There's a handful of elite QB's in 2010 who do not run around screaming "FUCK COCK YES" after a routine TD pass. Manning, Flacco, Ryan, Rogers, Freeman.

Goodson made it fairly clear--actually, crystal clear in his post-game comments on the network that JC is a great leader in the huddle. I'm not there, so I don't know. All I know is being a loud cajun bitch is not a prerequisite to being a great leader at the QB position.

For what it's worth, as long as I am on the "defending JC" train, try to understand that he was not groomed in camp to be the starter, so most of his reps came with backups. That, and he was born in fucking 1987.

    Smith.

Did he start the fight after the TB game because he's a team-guy, or because he was shut down by Talib all game and wanted to burn off a little steam?

Talk about leadership--he's a dude that looks a little dead in the huddle, compared to years past. I recall a lot of interaction between 89 and Delhomme on the sidelines between series.

Now, I just see 89 sitting over with his awkward buddy, Kasay.

Again, it's all about execution. Making plays helps to advance your swagger. From there, you begin to believe in yourself, and those around you catch onto it. Called leading by example, and it's fairly viral.

    1 TD, 5 INT. 5.3 ypa.

    50% completion rate.

NOne of those stats are worth a damn.

I could care less about his fire if he produced. He hasn't. He rarely hits wideouts.

a lot of JC passes are short, low, or he floats them. he's got a weak arm. Even when he throws it out of bounds he looks like he is struggling. Im sure in a combine or practice he can make "all the throws" but Jake's arm(strength) looked like Favre yesterday in comparison.

I know mags says they wont draft Luck, but if they get the #1 and don't think about a franchise QB, they will be crucified. just my opinion

Agreed. Clausen could turn out just fine, but you don't pass on a guy who seems to have a lot more upside because you picked a guy in the second round a year earlier. I'm tired of having a "game managing" QB who's main job is not to fuck up. I want a QB who can go out and win games on his own if need be.

Clausen would be better served in a pure WCO. He's not Cutler, no.

But the two throws (Gettis @ NO, LaFell @ Cle) were not only pure and accurate, but came in high pressure situations with a clusterfuck of a team around him.

Don't get me wrong--I'm far from sold yet. But I am seeing a slow improvement.
