Good deal. He fucked up by getting rid of Moss without talking to the OWNER.
And also fucked up by having 3 players go and drag Favre back to Minn.
One cannot keep making stupid mistakes like that and still keep his job.

He took a ridiculously talented team and did nothing with it.

I think the Moss thing is what did him in. You just do not do that without getting the owner's support first. Everyone thought Favre would be decent at least if he came back this year if not as good as he was in '09. It is hard to blame Chilly for that one.

How so? Chilly is the alleged QB developer on staff and he had to go beg a 40 something QB out of retirement to come play for him. If Chilly was doing anything with the QBs he drafted they wouldn't have needed Favre.

I never really dug too deeply into the behind the scenes of it, but how much of the Favre was Childress and how much of it was the owner wanting him?

I don't think Childress flies down to talk to Brett if he doesn't want him, and Favre's play last year did get Childress a contract extension.

You're right about going down there to see him, but I get the feeling that they never saw eye to eye on things. I also think that if Childress was really calling the shots, Favre would have been on the bench by now. On the other hand, maybe the fact that he's not shows that Childress really does love him. Either way, I guess it doesn't matter now.
