certainly, but that same level of frustration is rightfully reflected by fans.

Call me old school, but as someone who has probably been to more games than most, I still don't see Richardson as a piece of shit who owes everyone some sort of bullshit apology.

I've been to two games this year, both clunkers, and yes--it was frustrating. But nobody pointed a gun to my head and made me do it. I still want to see this franchise do well, and I have a feeling (as do the folks that cover the team closely) that Richardson wants the team to win, badly.

Kinda went into this season knowing the parts weren't there, but hoping Fox would pull out a gem of a coaching job to not only go out as a winner in Charlotte, but to increase his stock. But we just turned out to be to poorly coordinated and pieced together on offense. Defensively, despite the 400 yard day from the Saints, Meeks still has the #3 overall defense in the NFL in terms of yards yielded per play.

Fox is not a very good head coach, in terms of bending, being flexible and working on new ideas to expand his offense. And it's more and more on him, not that cow up in the booth. Retain Meeks, hire a sound offensive mind with a spring in his step to light a fire under this offense's ass, and move forward.

JF thinks--seriously--you can win the same way the 1966 Packers did. And we're just past that.

I'm not looking for an apology from JR but I would like to hear him say that the way the went into the season, seemingly by his mandate of cutting costs, wasn't the best method. Have him take a little accountability for this rotting corpse of a team. Him hiding up in his booth reminds me of Shinn during his last days and him running out that former minority owner out there for public fodder. JR pulled the teeth out of the team and expected Fox to polish the charcoal into a diamond and as you said the game has changed

As someone recently pointed out, you will hear Richardson publicly explain the downfall of the 2010 Panthers in the same venue that he never bragged over the playoff years in 2003, 2005, 2008.

The man doesn't talk, and unless someone can find me a link, Rooney never came out in the 80's and apologized to his fans when the Chuck Noll era was nearing its end.

JR doesn't talk, and personally, I prefer it that way (see: Jerry Jones).

Just because you talk a lot doesn't make you more of a desired winner.

Speaking of Pittsburgh, and the Cowher-train:

1998-2000: Cowher went 22-26, with an overall net points production of +23. In 1998, his offense ranked 28th in the NFL, with a defense ranked 7th overall.

Shit happens. Never thought Steeler fans ever had to endure 36 consecutive months of no playoff appearances, but even the best hit hard times.

Between the Polian/Capers/Sean Gilbert debacle around 97-98, Seifert's slide in 2001, and now the "Perfect Storm" of 2010, shit happens. What you hope for, moving ahead, is the team finding a better overall head coach than John Fox, for another 10-year re-load. I firmly believe that Fox's reputation and likability precedes his actual ability to put a championship team together, from a coaching perspective. Front-office stuff--hey, say whatever, but we've drafted fairly well, and when asked, Hurney went and provided Fox the needed ammo to win (Proehl, Davis, Gross, Lucas, Wahle, Hartwig, Kemo, Keyshawn, Otah, Stewart, Moose--again).

There are so many ways we can carve up this philosophical pie, but at the end of the day, the job of the Head Coach is to win games. Fox has won about as many as he has lost. So, if you are what your record is, why is Richardson to blame for not paying him (and for not shelling out millions on players that may or may not fit into an new vision/scheme for a new HC in 2011?)

Also is there anything JR could say that would actually make the fans happy or accept the season? or would they take an admission of 'a season with mandated cost cutting' and just bash him for it anyways?

I just don't buy this Bullshit that somehow Fox isn't responsible for this mess, the youth movement didn't start this year. "build through the draft" has been the motto for a few years now, but they (Fox Hurney) suck at drafting overall.

I think what happened is as follows, Fox agents tells JR Foxy wants 10 million a season, "Supercoach" money.

JR thinks this A-hole is a 7-9 coach with a few lucky seasons where he got to the playoffs.

JR makes it clear he ain't getting it, Foxy makes it clear he ain't coming back.

JR realizes he has a lame duck coach and a potential labor stoppage next season.

Order's Hurney to dump veterans, save money while clearing roster for new coach.
