Watched some of the Cowboy's beating last night. Fox's name was thrown in the mix of names for the coaching job. Wow. The Cowboys are playing just as bad as the Panthers. :detective:

But the Cowboys had a boat load more expectations than the Panthers. As bad as it is for the Panthers, America's team is a WHOLE LOT worse

he mentioned mulitple players abilities in that presser. never seen that before. only time i've ever seen anything like it is when he singled out moose or key, and it was a big deal. i think richardson fucked him. he's the big cat reeling in his business for the labor talks and the economic environment. at the end of the day its jr's responsibility to make sure he has a business, and that he has the kind of control he wants over that business, and that's exactly what he believes he's doing. we, as fans, are fucked this year, and so is fox. this year got sacrificed for what jr believes his role is in the negotiations. maybe he didn't believe we would be this bad, but he knew we wouldn't be any good. a competitive team wasn't a priority this yr.

I'd like to hear Richardson make a statement about this season.

Naturally Fox would be less resentful if he had a contract. But he's a big boy, he should be able to keep his mouth shut about personnel etc. until he is out the door and probably should just keep it (publicly) shut then.

He's getting 6 million to win games or at least be competitive which we are not close to. There's really no excuse for the shitty performance we're seeing, we have some Pro Bowl guys on offense that are not playing anywhere near that level, consistently bad. From preseason on. I believe Fox's pessimism, dis-satisfaction (however you prefer to characterize) it has filtered down. I can't wait until it's over really.

I didn't start the thread to hate on Fox. Just pointing out that he looked more pissed and annoyed as ever. Part of the problem is our passing game has either always sucked, or was miraculously saved by an unrivaled single season effort by one player (Moose 04, Smith 05--Jake's two best years.)

We had Jake, Keyshawn and Smith in 2006. Yet, neither Henning nor Fox could progress the overall product. We also added Hartwig before he started sucking. That was also Deangelo's first year.

Fox, I am convinced--for better or worse--has been an absolute micromanager of all three phases of the team. Best scenario in January:

    Harbaugh
    Bill Callahan (to coordinate offense)
Retain entire defensive staff, if possible
    Hire a real ST coach

I mention Callahan for several reasons, FWIW:

    1. Coached with Harbaugh in Oakland.
    2. Regarded an one of the "smartest" offensive minds in the NFL.
    3. Past coordinator experience for a playoff-caliber offense.
    4. His players in NY love the guy--Mangold and D'Brick have both called him the best offensive line coach, in terms of fundamentals, they've ever had.

I would be shocked if his name isn't mentioned, if indeed my dream comes true and Jim Harbaugh takes the job, if offered.

We DO NOT need any defensive coordinator-to-head coach conversions. We tried that already--for 9 years. Time for a new approach.

Plus, we have a Super Bowl defensive coordinator on staff.

It's pretty evident to me Fox is playing out the season and it's begining to look like the players are starting to follow suit
