A step down in all those areas. Jerry brought in Capers and Siefert too.

A lot of coaches are never going to sniff a ring even with a good QB. Rivers certainly does not have a ring or even a conference championship. Fox got one of those with Jake.....

Was the OL on roids in 2005 and 2008?

I only mention Rivers because you brought up SD. The point was that Foxy sucks at finding decent QBs.

Fox will get a head coaching job next year if he wants one. He has a better reputation around the league than you realize. Cowher will go wherever he wants as well but there is a good chance he comes to Carolina. Parcells changes teams more often than his underwear so his allure is limited. Holmgren is going to just hire himself to coach the Browns if he wants back in. Gruden is probably on par with Fox.

There will likely be several openings:

San Fran, Minnesota, Chicago, Cowboys, Denver, Cleveland, Cinncy and Jacksonville. There could be a couple of more if some teams tank like Oakland and Miami.

It sucks right now, but JR might be building something. The best businessmen make their moves in the lean times, not the times of prosperity. How many years did it take the Panthers to go from the 1-15 to the Super Bowl? I think the Panthers will be excellent while other teams are scrambling for a year or two trying to realign their rosters. It could be that next season is 2012--if that is the case, the core of the roster would be about 26-27 years old. Clausen will have facial hair and Edwards might have WR down. Hardy, Norwood, Gettis, LaFell, etc. Williams will be 30, but we have 3 RBs behind him. Our secondary will need a CB and we need a stud DT, but the rest of the D will be loaded. Offensively, we would have a ton of cash to build an offensive line.

So, I think our needs are minimal considering our players will age into prominence instead of out of it.

I think we use this draft to grab a stud DT.
Aside from CB, and I am not sure Pugh would not be a great replacement for Marshall, what are the pressing needs? OL, but RG has some developmental players and Otah needs to get healthy. Still, I would draft a LOT in the third with upside and let him develop. I would also draft a Center because Kalil could be gone.

Coaching wise, I hope we can keep Meeks as DC as well as his staff.
