yeah, he's good. People are expecting a dominance that happens once a decade, whereas I'm solid with "pretty fucking good when he has good QB play" because I know that not being over 8-8 can happen to solid teams, and I really don't relish the idea of becoming the 49ers or Lions.
But there's definitely a feel of inflated value, both from Fox and Glazer, not like the league cares about Glazer.

Fox is a pretty good coach, but pretty good will never be enough. I think 2003 was more to the "blind squirrel theory" than it was to Fox's greatness as a head coach. I don't understand all the talk that if Fox is let go he'll be snatched up quickly by another team, as if there are teams out there begging for the guy. Last offseason, JR told Fox/agent that they were free to look elsewhere for a job in 2010 and if they were offered a position the Panthers would release him from his contract penalty-free. Not one single team asked Fox to be their HC. Not one. And he was basically a free agent coach. So, I see Fox getting another job after this season but I think it will be as a DC and then later on after memories have faded somewhat another HC chance will come along. Hell, that's the only way I can explain Norv Turner and Wade Phillips getting HC jobs.

I disagree, Fox will be a head coach in 2011 somewhere if he wants to. He might take a year or two off but he will be a head coach again. I expect he will be able to pick between several spots. I think San Diego and Dallas are the most likely spots for him to land.

Hurney has failed in finding a QB as well. How many teams during Fox's tenure have been better than the Panthers? Colts and Pats have been but they have had hall of famers at QB. The Steelers have but if not for Big Ben's off the field issues people would already be talking hall of fame for him too.
