I thought Clausen looked pretty good in the second half. He will work out the center exchange problems. If not for the fumble by Stewart he might have pulled off the comeback. We seemed to lose a lot of momentum there and were in position to take the lead when it happened.

We are not that far away. Look for us to put together a nice run late in the year when we are out of it. 7-9....

Holy shit. We are just not a competitive team. We had opportunities to make plays but let them slide away. Clausen was not a spark. I do appreciate the defensive effort. If we fumble one more damn time I'm gonna hang myself.
Its early in the season, but they look like a bottom 3 or 4 team. Rams and Bills both look better. Undisciplined.

We've had chances to be in these games. Just haven't been able to get over the hump. We can't have the tenured guys fucking up in close games.

Fuck Dwayne Jarrett. Fuck him in the fucking mouth.

The upside on Clausen is that he should get better. He played much better in the second half. Gettis looked better too. If we had played the first half like the second it would have been a better game.

On the downside, last year we seemed to have one good drive a game, and usually only one. Not much has changed.

    No.
Richardson cut a good bit of "fat" off the roster, less Peppers. He's still pretty good.

Funny to see the guys we typically cut end up getting cut before Sept 1 with their new team, or end up riding the pine for other teams.

No, JR wants to win, and there's no sinister motives. He's just at a point with his org where he made a choice to pay less now. Tampa did the same thing, and--well--still do. Only difference is we're doing it for a purpose, and Tampa's doing it because they have major cash flow issues.

When football resumes (after this unfinished season, which could end up being reasonably fun), we will have a ton of young players with experience, a young (more than capable) QB, a choice of 3 superb tailbacks, and a shitload of cash to spend as we see fit.

Fox is gone, either way, and he's not helping his stock by fielding such a poorly prepared team. Two of the four youngest teams in the NFL are Philly and Green Bay. They happen to be young is less vulnerable positions. Were extremely young at QB and WR, and that will take a few weeks to iron out.

But I am not impressed by Fox. Haven't been since the start of 2009. He's the coach responsible for getting the team mentally and physically prepared to compete each week, and all we're spitting out right now is clumsy-ass morale victories when we showed today we're good enough to win.

    Just not executing. Ever.

I agree with all of this, I believe Fox is gone either way at the end of the season, God knows about next year, but in the next 2-3 years we could be good again if we hang on to the nucleus of our young players.

I just wonder when (during this year) we serious consider trading Smitty to get something for him, while we can. Because as much as I like him, not sure he'll be around to help us considerably 3 years from now when I hope we're a contender again.
