I'd rather drink things I like than work on 'developing a taste' for shit I don't like

I had the same experience with tequila back in college. Couldn't as much as even smell the stuff until recently without feeling sick to my stomach. Finally said WTF and took a shot a couple of months ago and it wasn't bad. Definitely not my favorite, but not to bad. Give scotch a try, you may have the same experience.

I'm with jazz, Johnnie Walker Red Label for everyday drinking. Black Label for special occassions. Single malt is more of a connoisseur thing imo.

    Gracias.

BTW, does single-malt taste "radically" different than a blend? I mean, is there a definite basic scotch flavor to both? You know, like Budweiser and Guinness extra stout are both beers but damned if they taste like they're even the same beverage, IMO.

I don't think radically. I believe Johnny Walker is a blend of single malts, so basically you're getting single malt anyway.

little known fact: PBR Ice is a single malt beer; Schlitz Ice is a blend of eight different single malt beers. You can't taste the difference between the two.
