So I have an older LG eNV phone and I've had it like 4-5 years now I guess and I'm not under any Verizon contract any longer but do want to upgrade my phone and will take a 2 year contract hit if I have to - but I don't know which phone is best....

I like the newest Droid phone I think - I'd like to be able to text, surf the internet and have GPS if I'd like it. I would prefer a regular non-touch-screen keyboard but could learn to use the touch screen I guess if I had to. Not really crazy about the blackberries I have seen - and I have heard the internet is slower on those anyway (?)

    Anyone have any suggestions? TIA.

There's an even better Droid coming out 4th quarter. I'll skip the X for that one. Its got a 2Ghz Snapdragon processor with an NVIDIA graphics chip in it.

That's a damned PC in your hand.

I really like my droid but man the touch screen drives me crazy! They need to improve that. you are always clicking on something you didn't intend to click on. Like when you're scrolling down, the first thing you touch when you start to scroll is what opens up. it's pretty aggravating. And i have "pants dialed" three different people in the last week. That's a big time potential of getting you in trouble.
If they could improve that, i'd love it. plus they need to catch up with the iphone in the way of apps.

free phones or really decent discounts on phones as long as you're due for a new 2yr agreement.

i got two zenons there about a 1 1/2 ago for free. i'm due to get two more in agust and i'll go through them again. but call rather than do it online. you can get really cheap packages with chargers, bluetooth and extra memory. i paid $16 for two 8g memory cards. my damn phone has 1300 pictures in it and a shitload of music.

    two phones + 2 8g cards + two wall chargers + one bluetooth + one car charger = $34 total after s&h.

totally worth it and didn't screw up any billing at all with at&t.

and, yea, any major phone company can work with them.

I've had both the motorola droid and the droid incredible. I liked the motorola, love the incredible. I thought I'd like the keyboard on the phone, but the onscreen is so easy that I never used the physical one. The big difference is the camera. I haven't tested the droid X yet, but I really can't see me needing more than the incredible at this time.

Stay away from the other android phones with motoblur or the LG one.
