    with all that has happenned, its very unlikely that BP will be able to continue after the fallout doing business as usual. That being said, companies like this are ripe for a takeover, and a company like Shell or Exxon could end up buying BP, and negotiatating with the government to lessen the inevitable lawsuit damages in return for Exxon or Shell keeping operations going while not having huge employment fallout. In some ways, its akin to a person buying one of the big banks that were on the brink of failure, because if they are able to survive, the only way to go is up. In the case of a BOA or Citigroup stock, if someone timed it right they would've made their investment back 5X over in less than a year, a return that you could only get being a loan shark. The higher the risk, the higher the chance for a huge return. On the flipside, all you put in could be gone tomorrow.

    I dont disagree with that but I got burned on USAIR thinking the very same thing... Chapter 13 erases everything. That is why I'm asking.

    British Petroleum is doing enough C_Y_A that they should recover. They will get a govt bailout and stock will double down w/in 6 months
