pouting? maybe not. but i do recall something along the lines of him hoping and preparing for when he was a starting qb again, either for us or another team in the future and all he could do is be ready. which is what you'd expect, and being a competitive person, is understandable. it probably did bother him though, especially since he had to take that ass-beating with the 1-15 team, but when he did have his opportunities later, he was mostly ineffective. that atlanta game had to be the ultimate product of his inabilities.

he had lost his starting job the year before to Rodney Freaking Peete. Jake wasn't even here yet.

But don't let facts stand in the way of a good tagline.

Thanks for debunking this. I was thinking I had completely missed the whole Weinke pouting thing. Turns out I had forgot the Yas does indeed just make shit up. Or maybe he is just a lot more sensitive than the rest of us.

I am still not sure Fox made the right move by going with Peete back then. Twinky might have developed if he had played in 2002. We were not going to the playoffs anyway. Sitting on the bench did not help him because when he got his shot in 2006 he sucked big time.

I remember him sulking on the bench off by himself.

I'm not sure the locker room would've bought into Fox had he let Weinke keep starting, especially if the goal was to allow him to develop.
