Papi might really be 38 years old, who knows with the Dominicans.

Does anybody else remember when the A rod thing broke, his trainer from the DR who is banned from ballparks? ESPN flashed on the bottom line that the guy has also worked with Vlad Guererro, Pedro M., Oritz, basically a who's who of Dominican ballplayers. The just got swept under the rug somehow.

I think he was the trainer for the Dominicans in the WBC.

But you're right, Papi could be old, or it could be hist wrist, or he could have been on roids. Whatever, he looks beyond done. And that's a bummer.

I know rehab has come light years ahead since the early 70s, but my pop said it took Yaz a whole season to look himself again after a wrist injury

What's the deal with the BoSox this year? 1-6 at home, 3 of 5 starting pitchers with ERAs over 5? as a team hitting .249?

    What's up Sox fans?

Big Poppy, JD Drew, and even Yuke are not hitting their weights. They can't throw out base runners either, teams are running at will.

Just a bad, bad start. Lester's been awful, but he always is in april. Lackey's stats are skewed by one bad start. He gave up no runs in six innings against the Yankees, then two ER in 6 2/3 against the Twins and got hammered yesterday against the Rays. Also, the Rays appear to have Boston's number. Marco Scutaro and Mike Cameron, the alleged defensive upgrades, already have four errors between them. and of course there's the dismal performance of Big Popup and JD Drew, batting .158 and .146, respectively, with 32 strikeouts between them.

It'll be an accomplishment if the Sox compete for a wild card.

edit: plus what wise one said about other team's running on Martinez and Varitek.

Yankees sucked hind tit last year in the early stages and seemed to rebound. Listening to ESPN radio they were wondering when the BoSox would call about SD Gonzalez? But then said that the Sox didn't have enough for him? Get the pitching right and get healthy would be a great start. Saw Ellsbury and Cameron went on DL today. I think they should have done that earlier for Ellsbury sooner. Hell it's April, lots of baseball left

yankees were missing A-rod. Sox are missing jacoby ellsbury. big difference.

the sox have plenty to offer for Gonzalez. the padres would be asking for way too much at this point.

The Red Sox need to come to the realization that Ortiz is finished as a major league hitter. Finito.
