    Agreed. It's definitely a both/and situation; not an either/or.

Agreed, again. In my case, my counselor explained that the combination of genetics and repeated trauma caused a chemical problem in my brain. Basically I'm stuck in "fight or flight" mode. The meds balance out the chemicals so I can feel normal. As far as I know, it's not something that can be 'cured', just treated.

A lot of people on anti-depressants care about feeling better, not getting better. There's a big difference.

I hope you're able to keep that at bay. You seem like someone who has the mentality to manage something like that. Is there a noticeable difference since you lost weight?

    I have found a balance

Get up at nine take an upper. Two hours later take a downer. Repeat every two hours till 9:00 pm. Go to bed at 12 am. Start over. This has had great effects on me. Only have hour or so left. Got to run. :jumprope::jumprope:

A disability only becomes a disability if it is used as an excuse!

Even if you have a legitimate mental illness, taking medication alone isn't good enough. Therapy is just as important. You can't control a problem if you don't have somebody helping you stay aware of it.

Sometimes the therapy is more important because it can help one figure out different ways to manage your mental illness other then drugs. I know this because I am not allowed to have medication in bulk(not even Tylenol). I have to have it dispensed to me(long story). Seeing as I live alone with my daughter, medication is not an option right now. I have had to figure out ways of dealing with severe depression, anxiety and panic attacks and much more with out the aid of medication. It is ruff but it can be done. Anyone can benefit from a therapist.

As my stepmother once said....You are the only one who has never lied to us,stolen from or other wise hurt us... my reply... And yet I am the only one seeing a shrink!

The anxiety management facilitated the weight loss by eliminating the overwhelming desire for stress eating.

That reminds me of the time my 3rd grade teacher told us "never invite your black friends over unless you're absolutely sure your husband won't be home until after 5."

For years, I was like "what the fuck was she talking about!?" But now, it all makes sense.
