    Nice photo lol

btw a lot of vitriol from someone who doesn't fucking care

Never said it was new or confined to the Observer. It's more a commentary on Charlotte media as a whole.

"who fucking cares" = vitrol? no, just seems like you are looking for something to bitch about. why not just enjoy duke winning?

CO has been a tarheel paper for ever, its nothing new. UNCC should be the most pissed fan base. Steph Curry as a NBA rookie gets more coverage than UNCC. Its pathetic.

From talking to a person at the observer, they didn't hold the front page for the late edition but did hold the sports page which has the whew devils.

Sadly, for supporters of other schools, the Heels sell papers. The bias is more economic than anything else.

BTW, I knew Mike in college. I wonder if he married that really hot little red head?

That isn't pathetic, Steph Curry grew up in Charlotte and had an iconic father who is a Charlotte legend. If UNCC had half the history of Duke basketball and still got shit on like a red-headed step child I could understand.

I'm sure UNCC had issues with their coverage in 1977 and that's understandable, but they haven't done much this decade to demand any coverage to be quite honest.

Anyway I never said I was breaking news here, quit trying to act like I am 'just looking' for something to bitch about. I'm just stating the facts, believe me I'm quite happy Duke won and am enjoying it immensely. Almost as much as I'm enjoying the UNC faithful running around in the media like someone shit in their cheerios (John Kilgo.)

No idea what the coverage was back in the day but for the past decade it's sucked for the Niners. Even when the Niners were ranked and knocking off Top 25 teams regularly the O buried Niner stories in the sports section. The thing that pisses off many Niners is the O's sports editor coming on the Niner messageboard and telling us all we needed to do was win to get more covereage. The dude lied and got called out for it. Besides, even when the Niners are down they are still the hometown university and at least deserve coverage. Compare the O's coverage of it's hometown university to virtually any other newspaper's coverage of its hometown team. It's pathetic. End Rant.

You're absolutely right, I was being harsh. If the CO won't cover UNCC who will?

I was just sticking up for their coverage of Steph Curry, it's nice to see a hometown kid do well. Of course, one might wonder where their coverage of Anthony Morrow is..

Who cares ? The Observer is a rag that I'll never waste a penny on.
It's been a Heel circle jerk for years, nothing new there.

I wasn't bashing Curry. my point was (as VA said) coverage of the CO's hometown university is awful(pathetic). esp for a university that has been around for decades vs a player known for only the past 2-3 years.

    Welcome, NC
I noticed it after the West Virginia game - if the Heels would have won that game, the Observer would have been up all night covering it, and the entire front page - not the sports front page, the FRONT front page would have been covered with sissy blue and pictures of the great victory that led to them being in the final. Then there would have been a 4 page article in sports covering it - only thing there was from the Duke win was a headline - and no story - on the front of both pages.

I wrote an e-mail to every basketball sports reporter on the Observer staff Sunday morning complaining and mentioning the subject. I got a 2 sentence reply from one of them saying "we're sorry you're disappointed, the game was too late" More coverage Monday. Total crap. I wouldn't even have noticed, but I've been at a friends taking care of their pets for the last week, and they subscribe to the piece of junk. Glad I quit subscribing long ago.

For what it's worth, the Raleigh/Durham paper isn't much better.

You can thank Butler for that. :)

If it had been Duke vs. Mich. State, then the ratings would have been crap.
